Last week, the Sussexes went to a Fourth of July parade in their adopted hometown of Montecito, CA and Prince Harry and his two-year-old daughter Lilibet were photographed together. The photos were published by the New York Post, a Rupert Murdoch owned tabloid based in the US. The New York Post stated the images were taken by “an eyewitness”, but they were captioned to Backgrid, a picture agency that distributes content, including on behalf of freelance and paparazzi photographers. For those not in the know, People Magazine is to Celebrity Publicists as Backgrid is to Celebrities proper.
A more blurred picture of the Sussex family was circulating around Twitter, then, something curious happened. The Daily Mail, another Murdoch UK tabloid, published the same photos. But there was one key difference: The Mail blurred out the faces of Prince Harry’s children, whilst the US tabloids did not. And this, ladies and gentlemen means something that I’m not quite sure the Prince is ready to admit or accept.
