The Best Photos of Will and Kate for VE Day
The Prince and Princess of Wales and their family took center stage this week
Hello Dear Readers,
What were the odds that the week of VE Day commemorations would fall on the two year anniversary of King Charles’s Coronation? When the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince William and Princess Catherine came out for the culmination of VE Day celebrations last night at a concert held at Horse Guards parade grounds, we had a profound sense of deja vu to the Platinum Jubilee concert in 2022. Pomp, pageantry, flypasts and the royal family. This post is free to all readers. If you haven’t already, please subscribe below.
To kick things off, on Monday, senior royals (King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Catherine, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne, Sir Tim Lawrence, the Duke of Kent and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucestershire) joined WWII veterans and their families for a military parade in front of Buckingham Palace.
Though we’d received photos of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to commemorate their birthdays, this was the first time seeing the whole lot of them since Christmas.
The Princess of Wales wore a beautiful, violet Emilia Wickstead coat-dress and pillbox hat she’d debuted two years ago during the South African State Visit to Great Britain.
As always, it’s always a joy to see the family interacting with each other.
Despite their rather extraordinary lives, it was a delight to witness that even Princes aren’t above taking the mickey out of one another. Prince Louis cheekily mimicking his brother, complete with an exaggerated eye-roll, is a moment that shall forever be cherished.

In preparation for the flypast over Buckingham Palace, the senior royals took their place on the balcony to witness the spectacle unfold.

Afterward, the Royal family and members of the Second World War generation were treated to an impressive array of sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones and cakes as they swapped stories at a Buckingham Palace tea party.
The most unexpected delight of the day came when Prince George joined his parents at the event—a development that, according to royal correspondents on the ground, caught everyone rather off guard.
The young Prince proved a natural, effortlessly engaging with the veterans in what marked his debut royal engagement.
William and Kate looked on very proudly at him.
In regards to the Wales children - first, we’re sure they are being raised in a warmer and more stable environment than either Prince William or Prince Harry experienced, and then you have the Middleton influence as well. We’re also sure William and Catherine are preparing Charlotte and Louis for a world where they can either help support their brother or go into private life and build careers of their own. Maybe it comforts others to think they’re a product of being a “spare” (and therefore has no agency) and it will be like that for the Wales kids, but we don’t think that’ll be the case here. We’d bet money Charlotte and Louis will be well-adjusted.
Yesterday morning, the King and Queen, accompanied by The Prince and Princess of Wales and other members of the royal family, attended a Service of Thanksgiving in Westminster Abbey to mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.
Catherine rewore an Alessandra Rich dress she donned during an Order of the Garter ceremony back in 2023.

Later than night, the King and Queen, accompanied by The Prince and Princess of Wales and other members of the royal family, attended a Celebratory Concert on Horse Guards Parade, London SW1, to conclude the National Commemorations for the Eightieth Anniversary of VE Day.
Catherine looked especially resplendent in a Self-Portrait number last seen during King Charles’s Coronation.
And William didn’t look too bad himself! For more on how grateful we are that he’s keeping his beard, please see our newsletter below:
Catherine looks absolutely wonderful and, most importantly, healthy. We’re so glad she’s doing okay. Standing next to William, they make such a handsome couple.
We do hope you’ve enjoyed this rather photo-laden post. As we edge ever closer to the warmer months, we’re in for a treat:A splendid season of royal and royal-adjacent events: The Order of the Garter ceremony, Trooping the Colour, Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and a host of other grand occasions.
With such momentous occasions unfolding, the self-immolating elephant in the BBC newsroom will scarcely endure beyond a fleeting news cycle.
Wishing everyone a smashing Friday.
Yours in Royal Tea,
Lady Sinclair
