Are the King and the Wales's "At War"?
A Royal Family at peace is not good for the Press business
Last Monday, the Princess of Wales made a surprise stop at the world-renowned Chelsea Flower garden show in London. Princess Kate (I’m trying to get better about calling her by the name she prefers) Catherine’s appearance coincided with joining children from 10 different state elementary schools on the lawns. The picnic, under a large chestnut tree, was part of an effort to bring gardening and nature into the lives of more children, something the Princess has been passionately promoting for several years. Students from the 10 schools are participating in the Royal Horticultural Society's Campaign for School Gardening.
The News pool stated Princess Catherine spearheaded the idea to invite children from public schools to the event. In 2019 the Princess launched her RHS “Back to Nature” gardens at Chelsea and the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, in collaboration with the landscape’s architect Davies White, to highlight the importance of spending time outdoors to a child’s development, so this was right up her alley. The COVID-19 pandemic derailed the picnic plans for a couple of years before it went live this past week. As it was so successful, organizers have stated they would like this to continue every year.

Six hours later, King Charles and Queen Camilla, accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, and Princess Alexandra made their way to the Chelsea Flower Show and visited the gardens including The Royal Tribute Garden which featured the late Queen's favorite flowers and the King's plants from his Sandringham Estate.
As with most things, the Princess of Wales’ visit received more attention, hits and inches in the press than the King and Queen’s. Does this mean that the King is feeling those familiar pangs of jealousy?

This is nothing new. From the moment Princess Catherine become engaged to Prince William and was earmarked as the future Queen of England, she has always received the lion’s share of press and almost always lands on the front page. The entire family came out for Easter and the Princess of of Wales and Prince Louis grabbed all the front pages.
After the Princess, when the Markle Sparkle was in effect, the Duchess of Sussex also enjoyed some front pages when she was a part of the Royal Family. And before both of them, there was the Duchess of York, who, when she got married to the disgraceful Prince Andrew, was described as a “breath of fresh air” compared to the dour and drum then-Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
